   Gerard Begley

Gerard Begley was born and raised in County Down, Northern Ireland. Being involved with theatre and the arts from such a young age it was only natural for him to pursue a path in design.

Having graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, in 2013 with a BA Hons in Theatre Design specialising in costume, props and puppetry Gerard has since returned to Northern Ireland. From here he has worked on various television shows, films, threatre productions and events including Ridley Scotts sci-fi series "Halo: Nightfall" directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan and produced by Ridley Scott and the third and final series of the BBC television drama "Six Degrees."

Gerards experience and knowledge of design and creation is vast ranging from bespoke fashion, period costume, fantasy and science fiction works. With developed interests and knowledge on geek subculture which in recent years has been growing in maintream media, Gerard's portfolio of costumes and props is full of recreations and realisations to expand his skill further into more uniqie teritories.
 

Gerard has easy access to the north and south of Ireland allowing him free to expand his talent through work in various arts related programs including numberous projects with Arts Care Ireland whos aim is to make all forms of art accessible to patients, clients, residents and staff.

 

Gerard is not limited to work in Ireland alone as he has designed and produced costumes and props from productions in both Wales and England. With his regular travel it has aided him in having established contacts all round Europe as well as other continents having been an Irish representative for the World Cosplay Summit held at the Now Japan Festival in Lithuania in 2016 and being invited as a guest to Animefest in Brno, Czech Republic to speak about costume and puppetry.
